Cleaning And Maintaining Chrome Objects With Homemade Solutions

Chromium is common in the house, from which it was made many household objects, from pots to taps. On how sustainable is that metal, on so easily it stains. Thus, you need to clean chrome objects quite often. The good news is that you are able to make at your house your own cleaning solutions for chrome objects.

1. Water and soap dish

Put in a bucket of hot water a few drops of dishwashing detergent and mix well. Then use a soft sponge which does not scratch the chrome object. Rub the surface well, and then wipe it with a dry absorbent material, restoring radiance. This method is recommended for simple stains that do not require pressing for surface to clean up quickly.

2. Water and baby oil

A simple body oil for children mixed with water represents a possible solution for cleaning surfaces of chrome objects. But this method is recommended when the spots are easy to clean.

3. Water and vinegar

Vinegar is one of the most popular natural solutions to clean the house. For the chrome objects vinegar proved to be very helpful. It is able to dissolve grease stains on it. You should add two parts water into some vinegar.

4. Vinegar and baking soda

Vinegar in combination with water is not always effective, so you can add a little baking soda to your solution. Wipe well the surface with an absorbent towel.

You can use baking soda in combination with water. At 2 liters of water use 4 teaspoons of baking soda. To rub, choose a cloth or soft material, which cannot damage the surface. Do not forget to wipe then thoroughly with a dry cloth. Chrome objects stain easily just from a few drops of water, so after it was cleaned, it should be washed in clear water and then wiped thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.

6. Vinegar and foil

One of the most unpleasant aspects of chrome objects is those spots that make the glossy surface dull and rusty. You can give the brilliance of chrome objects by using vinegar. But to effectively rub the surface, you should use a ball made of aluminum foil.

Leftover mess can be cleaned with warm water and dishwashing detergent.

7. Eucalyptus or mint essential oils

For grease stains that cannot be cleaned easily, you should use essential oil of peppermint or eucalyptus, without combining it with water or anything. For this method is recommended the use of gloves. After cleaning the surface dry with a clean cloth.

8. Lemon oil

To give a nice glossy aspect of chrome object, after cleaning it, you can apply a small amount of lemon oil.

Maintaining chrome objects

An effective way of smoothing and shiny surface is polishing the chrome objects with baby oil or olive oil.

If the objects are showing signs of rust, the most appropriate thing is to re-chrome them. This means that the layer of chromium jumped and rust can be extended.

If you want to keep shining chrome surfaces for longer time and to reduce the frequency of cleaning them, try to give them special wax. Apply wax on the surface. The first layer will fill the surface pores, and the other layers will provide a beautiful shine. A similar and easier solution would be wax paper.
